Dr. Chinedu Umeadi, MBBS, DTM&H, MPH, DCP, PhD, FRCPC, FRCPsych, is a consultant psychiatrist with many years of experience in general psychiatry, leadership, management, research, teaching, mentoring, service development, and medico-legal medicine.
Dr. Umeadi graduated from Abia State University, Uturu, Nigeria, in 2000 and started his postgraduate training in the United Kingdom in 2004. Dr. Umeadi did dual training in psychiatry and public health. He has a tropical medicine and hygiene diploma and a master’s degree in public health from the University of Liverpool, UK. He also has a PhD in Public Health with an Epidemiology specialization from Walden University, USA.
He became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK, in 2010 and was later awarded a Fellowship of the same college in 2021. He worked as a consultant psychiatrist in the United Kingdom for many years before moving to Canada in 2019. He has since become a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Umeadi is an Adjunct Professor of psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University, London. In September 2023, Dr. Umeadi moved to Lakeridge Health Oshawa from Chatham-Kent, where he works as a consultant psychiatrist.
At Bowmanville Health Centre, Dr. Umeadi will treat general mental health conditions in people aged 16 years and above.
